Always wait for the respawn, in most cases you fought your way into the cave or camp and you'll have to fight your way out. If you find an escort deep inside assume that all the mobs you killed on the way in will be there on the way out. I tend to clear or pull mobs to the escort start giving me maximum respawn time to get the NE in her skivvies to safety. Then buy wow gold is no need.

Some escort quests spawn their own mobs, so when the NE yells "omega here they come!" it's because she has been spotted by "yet to appear" beavers. Always try to stay ahead of your escort. She runs ahead! You should run up there too, clear the path. Then you can sit and drink while she saunters past.

Anyone recall escorting Tooga across the entirety of Tanaris to reunite him with his wife? Or how about that other beauty, Supplies to Auberdine? Of course the Horde had their fun with escorting a prisoner from Northwatch hold through an entire fortification of mobs, and then across the pirate infested coast, and oh, did I mention that the prisoner walked. Way. Good times, good times. Ahem. Pardon the outburst. Yes, escort quests are a pain, but really they aren't nearly as bad as the sheer torture they once were.

I do have fond memories of myself, and my two friends using our Rogues to impede a poor Alliance player from completing their Defias Prisoner escort quest way back in pre-BC. Two of us were about the same level as the zone (so it got a bit sketchy a couple times), and after about the 3rd death of the NPC, the guy finally called in the big guns (Holy crap, level sixties!). My most fond memory with escort quests was the one in Icecrown where you have to escort this Argent Priest out of the Fleshwerks. So I’m going along, nearing the end when all of a sudden, Level 80 Rogue out of nowhere. I got down to 5% before bubbling and hear thing back to Dalaran. So I fly back 10 minutes later thinking to abandon the quest and pick it up again. You should save time to make wow gold.
